New York City’s Moon Goddess, Moon Gemini, is getting a new name: the Moon Goddess of Feminism.
The goddess is the first female goddess of feminism to appear in the United States, according to The New York Times.
Moon Geminis, who has been featured on the cover of The New Yorker and Vanity Fair, is known for her outspokenness and her willingness to challenge convention, as well as her outspoken support for feminism and women’s rights.
Her name is derived from the Greek word “gems” and translates to “snow.”
“Moon Gemini has been named by the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) to honor the important work she has done to support and empower women, women’s, and people of color,” said NCLR Executive Director Sarah Warbelow in a statement.
“Her work is vital to the fight against sexism, racial injustice, and other forms of inequality.
Her leadership and advocacy will be a huge inspiration to all who are passionate about helping women, people of all genders, and racial and ethnic minorities in our country.”
“The moon is an important symbol for our world and for women, and I am so excited to have her as my moon goddess,” Moon Gemani told the New York Daily News.
“As a feminist, she is a powerful symbol and a powerful role model for all women.”
The New Zealand-born Moon Gemati is best known for creating a symbol of peace, with a giant cross on her chest.
She is also known for being a feminist activist, which she has been for more than 20 years.
